A cheap studio in Toronto, with the engineer included.
Studio time at 24K is C$80 an hour with an engineer in the room, or C$55 an hour on 24K Tuesdays, from a one-hour minimum, with no HST added. Open 9 AM to 2 AM every day at 550 Queen St E, and bookable online from one hour ahead. Rates current as of 14 September 2026.
The numbers
What a session costs.
- One hour: C$80, or C$55 on a Tuesday.
- Two hours, enough for most songs you know well: C$160, or C$110 on a Tuesday.
- Four hours: C$320, or C$220 on a Tuesday.
- A full ten-hour day: C$800, or C$550 when every hour falls on a Tuesday.
- How you pay: half online to hold the room, the rest at the studio afterwards by card, debit or cash. Nothing is added for the engineer, for late hours or for weekends, and no HST is added.
Being straight about it
Cheaper rooms exist. Here is what they leave out.
Some rooms in Toronto rent for less than this, and they are worth knowing about: practice rooms, self-serve booths, and the public library’s free studios. What they usually leave out is the engineer, and the engineer is most of what you are paying a studio for.
At 24K the engineer is in the room for every minute of the session, sets the microphone and preamp for your voice, and comps takes as you go, so the hour ends with a finished vocal rather than a folder of takes to sort out later. Some studios quote a low hourly rate with a two- or three-hour minimum, a setup fee, or the engineer billed on top. Here the hourly rate is the whole price, and the minimum is one hour.
Spend less
Five ways to make the money go further.
- Book a Tuesday. C$55 an hour instead of C$80, same room, same engineer, same gear.
- Start Tuesday sessions early. Hours after midnight bill at the regular rate, so a session that starts at 10 PM on a Tuesday is partly a Wednesday.
- Book only what you need. The minimum is one hour, so book the time you expect to use.
- Arrive ready. Send the beat ahead as a WAV to info@24kstudios.ca, finish the lyrics, and warm up before you walk in.
- Track several songs in one block. It costs the same per hour, and the chain and headphone mix are already set.
Easy to book
Cheap is only useful if you can get in.
- Open 9 AM to 2 AM, seven days a week, including holidays.
- Book online from one hour ahead on a calendar that only shows times the room is actually free.
- Downtown, at Queen and River, on the 501 streetcar.
- Free to cancel or move with 24 hours or more notice; the deposit comes back in full.

What is the cheapest day to record at 24K Studios?
