ADR
Dialogue that lands against picture.
Picture-locked replacement with sync playback in the booth. The engineer runs loops, takes and sync; the director runs the performance.
The session
Cues in the cans, picture in the booth.
Actors see picture in the booth and hear cues in their headphones. The engineer manages the loop points, the beeps, the takes and the sync, so the director can concentrate on the line and not on the machinery. Each cue is recorded as its own labelled take, with alternates kept, and the cue sheet is worked in order or in whatever order the schedule needs.
If the cut is still moving, say so. Files come back in a form that survives a re-conform. If production sound was recorded on a specific microphone, tell us and the chain is matched as closely as the room allows: a Neumann U87 or a Warm Audio WA-87 into a Neve 1073SPX or a Universal Audio SOLO/610, into a Universal Audio Apollo x16, monitored on ATC SCM12 Pro.
What the session includes
Stated so a producer can check it off.
- Frame-accurate picture playback in the booth, with cue beeps in the headphones, run by the engineer.
- Every take logged per cue and alternates flagged, so the editor chooses rather than guesses.
- The chain matched to the production microphone as closely as the room allows, when you tell us what location sound was recorded on.
- One file per cue, named to the cue sheet and the take, in WAV at your pipeline’s sample rate, in a form that survives a re-conform.
- Remote direction included over Source-Connect, Zoom, Listento or Google Meet.
- A pickup tonight is a normal booking. The studio is open 9 AM to 2 AM seven days a week, at the same rate, and the calendar takes bookings from an hour ahead.
Remote direction
The director does not have to be in Toronto.
Source-Connect, Zoom, Listento or Google Meet carry the session to the director, the picture editor or the supervising sound editor wherever they are, with the take audible in real time. For a studio patch, Source-Connect is the usual choice; for a producer joining from a laptop, Zoom or Google Meet is quicker to set up.
Delivery
Clean, labelled, against the sheet.
Every cue as a separate file, named to the cue number and the take, with alternates flagged. WAV at 48 kHz / 24-bit as standard or whatever your pipeline needs, MP3s, split files and slates, with loudness to broadcast standard on request. Stereo and mono only; no Atmos.
Time and money
By the hour, quoted per reel.
Studio time is C$150 an hour with the engineer included; projects are scoped and quoted within one business day. The rate is the same at 9 PM on a Sunday as at 10 AM on a Tuesday: the studio is open 9 AM to 2 AM, seven days a week, and evenings and weekends carry no premium. Rates current as of 14 September 2026. A half-day block of three hours is C$450; a full ten-hour day is C$1,500.
